
Aloisi Drafted by Los Angeles Galaxy

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Syracuse defender Chris Aloisi was selected in the sixth round of the Major League Soccer Superdraft by the Los Angeles Galaxy on Friday, January 16. Aloisi was the 57th pick overall.
Aloisi was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team by the league's coaches in 2003. It was the second consecutive season Aloisi has earned third-team all-conference honors.
Aloisi started 16 games for the Orangemen in 2003, helping the squad record five shutouts The fifth-year senior was only the second player in Syracuse history to be named team captain three times (John McCallion).
For his career, Aloisi scored four goals and had four assists. In addition to his All-BIG EAST honor last season, he was also named first-team All-New York Region. He earned first- or second-team all-region honors three times.
Aloisi participated in the MLS Player Combine in Carson, Calif. on January 11-13. Representatives from all 10 MLS teams were on hand to evaluate talent. Aloisi was one of 54 collegiate players to attend the event. He was one of eight BIG EAST players to be taken in this year's draft. St. John's Chris Wingert, the winner of the Herrman Trophy as the nation's top collegiate player, was the highest pick among conference players, going in the second round.
Aloisi has also been drafted by the Syracuse Salty Dogs of the A-League. The Salty Dogs took him with the sixth pick of the second round of the A-League Draft on December 17.
Two other SU players have played in the MLS. Paul Young and Mike Britton have each played at the highest level of professional soccer in the United States.
