Women’s Soccer Loses, 2-0, at #23 Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Syracuse women’s soccer team closed their BIG EAST schedule with a 2-0 loss to No. 23 Boston College. The Orange is now 8-8-2, 2-7-1 in the BIG EAST and will miss postseason play for the third-straight year. The Eagles improve to 12-5-0, 7-3 in league play and will host a BIG EAST quarterfinal game next weekend.
Syracuse was held without a shot for the first time this season. The Orange also failed to register a corner kick. The Eagles held a 15-0 advantage in shots and 10-0 advantage in corner kicks. After starting the season 6-2-2 in the first 10 games, the Orange is 2-6 in its last eight.
Tara Luciani tallied the game’s first goal 5:03 into the contest. Laina Ceddia was credited with an assist on the goal. Kia McNeill would net her eighth goal of the season in the 29th minute to secure the victory for the Eagles.
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Myers was kept busy most of the day and registered three saves against a powerful Eagles’ offense.
The Orange travels to No. 9 Princeton to close the season on Wednesday, Oct. 27 for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
