Two SU Seniors Head to All-Star Games

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University senior running back Walter Reyes (Struthers, Ohio) has been selected to participate in the 2005 Senior Bowl and center Matt Tarullo (Albany, N.Y.) was selected to participate in the 2005 Gridiron Classic.
Reyes is the 48th player to represent the Orange in the Senior Bowl and his selection marks the ninth consecutive year SU has had a player in the game. Reyes, a first-team All-BIG EAST selection, is first all-time at Syracuse with 45 career rushing touchdowns. He is second all-time at SU with 3,421 rushing yards. He is the all-time leading rusher in the history of the Carrier Dome with 2,239 career yards in 24 games.
The 56th annual Senior Bowl will be played on January 29 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. (ET) and the game will be televised on ESPN. Tarullo is the 11th SU football player selected to play in the Gridiron Classic. Syracuse has had at least one student-athlete selected to the game in all seven years of its existence. Tarullo has started 35 consecutive games and was named to the 2004 All-BIG EAST First Team. He moved to center this season after starting at guard in 2002 and 2003. The 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-American carries a 3.74 grade point average as a psychology major and speech communications minor.
The Gridiron Classic will be played Saturday, January 15 in The Villages, Fla. The seventh-annual game will kick off at 11:00 a.m. and will be televised nationally by ESPN2. Tickets are available via the internet at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone (407) 839-3900.
The Orange will face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Champs Sports Bowl on Tuesday, December 21 at 7:45 p.m. at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, Fla. The game will be televised live on ESPN.
