Syracuse maintained its No. 19 ranking in this week’s CRCA/US Rowing poll after splitting against Massachusetts and Villanova at the Orange Plus Cup Regatta on May 1. Syracuse placed second in the varsity eight competition, defeating Villanova, but losing Massachusetts.
The Orangewomen’s varsity four and junior varsity eight won their respective races at the regatta for the first time this spring, with the varsity four defeating Massachusetts and Villanova and the junior varsity eight beating Massachusetts head-to-head.
Racing at the Eastern Sprints begins at 8:00 a.m. with the heats for the lightweight four competition and ends at 5:00 p.m. with the open varsity eight grand final.

It will compete in the open third varsity four “B” race with its heat scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. The Orangewomen are in a heat with Boston University, Rutgers, Cornell and Dartmouth “B”. The top three boats in the heat will advance to the grand final at 3:20 p.m.
Syracuse’s varsity four will row in the third heat of the open third varsity four “A” competition, which is scheduled for 10:20 a.m. Georgetown, Boston University, Radcliffe, Yale, and MIT make up the rest of the heat, with the top two boats advancing to the grand final at 3:55 p.m.
The second varsity eight will be SU’s next boat off the starting line. It will race in the third heat of the open second varsity eight competition at 10:50 a.m. Joining the Orangewomen in that heat will be Yale, Princeton, and Dartmouth with the top two boats moving on to the grand final at 4:25 p.m.
