LOS ANGELES - Former SU men's soccer star Chris Aloisi made his Major League Soccer debut for the Los Angeles Galaxy in a 3-2 victory versus the Chicago Fire on Saturday, June 12 in front of 23,358 fans at the Home Depot Center.
Aloisi made his first career start and played the entire contest. The first-place Galaxy rallied from a 2-1 deficit to score two goals in the final 15 minutes and earn its sixth win of the season (6-3-3). The game was broadcast to a national television audience by ESPN2.
Aloisi was drafted by the Galaxy in the sixth round of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. He signed a developmental contract prior to the season, but was activated for the match with Chicago.
"It's definitely good getting the time," Aloisi said after the game. "Whenever I can help the team out and we get a win, it's even better. (Hong Myung) Bo has some big shoes (for me) to fill; with Danny and everyone else out; I just try to do as much as I can."
Aloisi was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team by the league's coaches in 2003. It was the second consecutive season Aloisi has earned third-team all-conference honors. The fifth-year senior was only the second player in Syracuse history to be named team captain three times (John McCallion).
For his career, Aloisi scored four goals and had four assists. In addition to his All-BIG EAST honor last season, he was also named first-team All-New York Region. He earned first- or second-team all-region honors three times.
