Lerew Named BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

Freshman forward Jessica Lerew (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs HS) was named the field hockey BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 20. It was the first weekly conference award for Lerew, who leads the Orange in goals (three) and points (six) so far this season.
Lerew scored two goals last weekend, notching her second collegiate goal in a 3-1 league win at Rutgers on Sept. 17, and the game-tying goal against Hofstra in a 2-1 victory on Sept. 19. She leads the team in shot percentage (.750), having connected on three of her four shots so far this year.
The Orange is 3-4 on the season, 1-0 in the BIG EAST Conference. The team plays at home two times this week, beginning with a visit from No. 19-ranked Penn State on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. SU returns to BIG EAST action on Sunday, Sept. 26, when one of the better teams in the league, No. 12-ranked Boston College, visits Coyne Field for a 1 p.m. tilt.
