SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Members of the Syracuse University women’s tennis team will compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Indoor Regional tournament held in West Point, N.Y. this weekend. Victoria Vaynberg (Princeton, N.J.) will compete in the main draw of the singles competition, while Vaynberg and doubles partner Catherine Zawadzki (Brooklyn, N.Y.) will play in the doubles main draw.
Zawadzki will try and make a run at reaching the main draw as she competes in the qualifier tournament beginning on Friday. Also looking to get into the main draw via the qualifier will be the doubles pairing of Katie Bramante (Endwell, N.Y.) and Wei-Ming Leong (Ipoh, Malaysia).
Vaynberg enters this weekend’s event with a record of 4-5 on the year after winning four matches en route to a runner-up finish in the Flight A singles draw at the Hampton Roads Invitational Oct. 14-16. Zawadzki is 6-5 so far this season.
SU has been strong in doubles play this season with Vaynberg and Zawadzki forming the Orange’s most dominant team with a record of 7-2 including a title at the Yale Invitational Sept. 16-18. Bramante and Leong are 3-4 on the year after winning a pair of matches at the Hampton Roads Invitational this past weekend.
