Cross Country Competes In UB Open Saturday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange cross country squad travels to Buffalo, N.Y. on Saturday to participate in the UB open. The women are coming off of a 3rd place finish last week in Oklahoma at the Cowboy Jamboree, while the men are fresh off of a 12th place finish.
Sophomore Liz Cufari, with a 2nd place finish at Binghamton and 13th at the Cowboy Jamboree, has been the top runner so far this season for SU. Last week, she completed the course in 18:48. Freshman Nana Sang Bender has made a quick splash, finishing in the top 20 in both races. Junior Shelby Perkins placed 25th last week in Oklahoma, while sophomore Kathleen Sanborn finished 29th.
For the men, junior David Wishart and sophomore Kyle Heath have been the pace-setters. Wishart finished fifth at Binghamton and 35th at the Cowboy Jamboree. Heath is close behind, placing 26th in both races, which was a team best in Oklahoma. Junior Matt Lawson finished third in the team at the Cowboy Jamboree with a time of 25:53.
