
NCAA Championships Await Orange

The Syracuse men's cross country team will be racing in the NCAA Cross Country Championships this Saturday Nov. 22 following their win at the NCAA Northeast Regionals. Selma Anderson will be representing the Orange as an individual in the women's 6k event.

ORANGE ENTRIES
The men will race will see seven runners compete from the following 10 entrants: Connell Alford, Benne Anderson, Ben Gabelman, Assaf Harrari, Sam Lawler, Matthew Neil, Sam Ricchiuti, Ruben Rojas Betanzos, Louis Small and Peter Walsdorf.
They'll be joined by Selma Anderson for the women's race, who qualified as an individual by finishing in the top-four at Friday's regional race.
GOING STREAKING
The Syracuse men reached the NCAA Championships for the 17th-straight season, which is now the nation's third-longest active streak. Only BYU and Colorado have longer stretches of consecutive appearances by their men's program.
The NCAA Northeast Region Championship extended another streak. The 'Cuse men have won at least one championship (ACC, Northeast Region or NCAA) and/or finished in the top-10 of the NCAA Championships every year since 2009 (excluding the COVID season). 'Cuse has finished inside the top-10 at four of the last-10 championships on the men's side.

The 'Cuse men claimed the title of NCAA Northeast Regional champions, securing an automatic bid into the field. The title was
Selma Anderson's fourth place finish at the Northeast Regionals qualified her as an individual for the championships. The No. 4 Syracuse men and Anderson will take on the nation's top squads at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course hosted by Mizzou.

This is Syracuse's 31st all-time appearance at the national championship meet, finishing in the top-five 11 times in program history, with a pair of titles.
During the current 17-year streak, Syracuse won its second National Championship in 2015, one individual national title (Justyn Knight, 2017), 12 top-15, five top-10 and three top-five finishes.

Last season, both the men's and women's teams had top-20 finishes in the NCAA Championships. Selma Anderson will make her second appearance at the championships as a sophomore.
