
Six women's events and five men's events are in the books after the first day of the BIG EAST Track and Field Championship.
One BIG EAST Record Shattered on Day One

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The SU women sit in sixth place with 15.50 points after day one of the BIG EAST Track and Field Championship and the Orange men are currently in eighth place with three points in five events. The final day of action resumes on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at the Carrier Dome. Check suathletics.com for continuous updates throughout the day on Sunday.
Junior Kristen Michalski took fifth place in the weight throw with a toss of 54-10.00, which is an ECAC qualifying mark. Junior Jessyca Jackson took fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 11-03.75. Sophomore Sheron Mark took fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 19-02.75.
Pittsburgh’s Amanda Walter broke the BIG EAST meet record and Carrier Dome record in the weight throw with a mark of 69-03.50, which is also an NCAA automatic qualifier.
