Valerij Petrulevich has successful weekend in Texas.
Petrulevich Takes Top Honors in 800 Meters

HOUSTON, Texas – Senior Valerij Petrulevich finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:50.23 at the Rice Bayou Invitational. Petrulevich also took second place in a photo-finish 1,500-meter race, crossing the finish line in 3:55.00, while James Ortiz of Texas State finished in 3:54.88. The men and women each garnered 39 points and the women tied for eighth place and the men took ninth.
Sophomore Joey Ziminsky took second place in the steeplechase finishing in 9:32.50. Senior Joshua Johnson finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 49-05.50 feet.
Sophomore Sheron Mark took second in the triple jump with a mark of 41-05.75. Freshman Kathleen Sanborn finished third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:39.08. She also took eighth in the 800 meters finishing in 2:17.07. Freshman Brittany Pryor finished fourth in both the shot put and hammer throw with marks of 47-01.50 and 158-07, respectively. Pryor also took eighth in the discus with a throw of 145-02. Sophomore Kristen Lunetta finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 129-08.
The Orange returns to action at Princeton University for the Sam Howell Invitational on April 9.
