NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Syracuse University running back Walter Reyes was one of 36 undrafted free agents to sign with the Tennessee Titans yesterday. Reyes becomes the fourth former Orange to sign with the Nashville-based team and joins kicker Gary Anderson and linebacker Keith Bulluck on the Titans’ roster.
Reyes is the all-time leading rusher in Carrier Dome history with 2,239 yards and he ranks third all-time among SU running backs with 59 receptions and 550 receiving yards. He started all nine games he played in and was a first-team All-BIG EAST selection in 2004, as well as an ECAC Division I All-Star (honorable mention). Reyes was selected to play in the 2005 Senior Bowl All-Star Game, but did not play due to injury. He won SU’s Mark Hoffman Most Outstanding Back Award for the second year in a row and tallied 803 yards and seven touchdowns, while averaging a team-best 89.2 yards per game. He was part of the first SU duo (Damien Rhodes) to each rush for at least 800 yards since 1979 (Joe Morris & Bill Hurley).
Reyes, a native of Struthers, Ohio, majored in African-American studies at Syracuse.
