Track Prepares for Two Meets

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange track and field team will be sending athletes to two separate meets this weekend, starting today at the Penn Relays, which run through Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and the Big Red Invitational at Cornell University on Sunday, May 1.
This is the final weekend of preparation for the Orange before heading to the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships at Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. on May 6-8. The BIG EAST Championship is followed by the ECAC/IC4A Championships on May 12-15.
Last week, sophomore Katie Simon took top honors in the steeplechase with a time of 11:21.59 at the N.Y. Relays at Icahn Stadium in New York City. Freshman Brittany Pryor finished first in the shot put for the second straight week with a throw of 14.81 meters. Sophomore Sheron Mark finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 12.46 meters. Mark also took third in the long jump with a leap of 5.97 meters.
