
Kathleen Parker to be Inducted into Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Syracuse field hockey coach Kathleen Parker will be one of 10 new members admitted to the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 7, 2005. The event will be held in the Emerson Suites on campus as part of Ithaca's Homecoming Weekend.
A 1971 graduate of Ithaca, Parker was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and field hockey and team captain in both sports. Her alma mater has kept close tabs on her career as a collegiate field hockey coach, ever since she joined the SU athletics department in 1978. With a career record of 295-196-14 (.598) she ranks 14th all-time among college field hockey coaches in games coached and is the sixth-winningest active Division I coach. Parker has led Syracuse to 15 appearances in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament and NCAA playoff appearances in 1993, 1995 and 2001.
Parker was named BIG EAST Coach of the Year in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 2001. She was Mideast Region Coach of the Year in 1991 and 2001.
The inaugural Ithaca College Sports Hall of Fame ceremony took place in 1969 when 15 individuals were named as charter members. A total of 240 athletes, coaches and administrators have been inducted in the past 36 years.
