Men's Soccer Announces 2005 Newcomers

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse head men’s soccer coach Dean Foti has announced the list of newcomers that will join the Orange for the 2005 season.
Robert Cavicchia is a goalkeeper from North York Ontario. Cavicchia played for the York Jets Soccer Club that won the 2003 Ontario Youth Soccer League Cup, and is a former member of the Canadian National Youth teams.
Daniel Cheatham is a midfielder from Groton, N.Y. He helped Lansing High School to a 22-1-1 record as a senior and a second-place finish in the state in Class C.
Eric Kleiman is a midfielder and forward from Reading, Pa. He led Antietam High School to a 26-2 record and the 2004 PIAA Class A state championship. Kleiman scored 74 goals and had 34 assists for his career.
Jimmy Linus is a midfielder and forward from Blue Bell, Pa. Linus missed his senior season with an injury, but scored 16 goals and had 11 assists as a junior to help Wissahickon High School to the Suburban One League title.
Ed Nicoloso is a redshirt freshman goalkeeper who joined the team last spring and was named to the SU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Nicoloso, a native of Miami, Fla., played three seasons at South Miami High School and one season at Christopher Columbus High School.
Gareth Pugh is a forward from Ottawa, Ontario. Pugh was named the team MVP for the Ottawa Fury U-17 team in 2004 and led the Super Y-League in scoring while playing with the Fury in 2003.
Spencer Schomaker is a forward from Seattle, Wash. He missed significant time due to injury his senior season at Roosevelt High School, but was named first-team All-Kingco 4A as a sophomore and junior. He scored 31 goals and had 11 assists in his first three seasons.
Andrew Usyk is a senior goalkeeper from Boca Raton, Fla. Usyk was the starting goalkeeper at North Broward Prep since his freshman year. He went 9-3-2 with nine shutouts and 82 saves as a senior, allowing just nine goals for a 0.68 goals against average.
Syracuse begins its 2005 campaign on Sept. 2 versus Marist. Kickoff at the SU Soccer Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.
