SU Ties Third Straight

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Emily Kowalczyk (Dayton, Ohio) recorded her seventh career shutout at Pittsburgh Sunday afternoon, while the Orange was not able to get the ball past the Panthers defense as the game finished in a 0-0 tie.
Kowalczyk had four saves in the contest moving her career total to 148, fourth highest mark all-time at SU. The shutout was the second of the season for Kowalczyk, third for the Orange.
SU had the upper hand in the first half out shooting Pittsburgh, 8-4, with four shots being on goal. The Orange managed just two shots the rest of the way leaving the two teams even in shots, 10-10, for the game.
Jen Taormina (Liverpool, N.Y.) led the Orange with two shots, both being on goal. Amanda Arcuri (New City, N.Y.) also had two shots with one being on goal.
The tie is the third straight for the Orange setting a new school record for most consecutive ties in a season. The three ties also match the most in any single season for the Orange all-time (3 ties in 2002).
Syracuse moves to 2-5-3, 1-0-2 in the BIG EAST, on the season, while Pittsburgh is now 2-5-2, 1-1-1 in the BIG EAST. SU will next be in action Friday at 7 p.m. when it takes on Villanova at the SU Soccer Stadium.
