Syracuse Wraps Up Fall Season at the Brown Classic

Providence, R.I.- The Syracuse women's tennis team closed out its fall schedule at the Brown Classic over the weekend. Syracuse faced Boston College on Saturday and Brown on Sunday in mock duals.
On Saturday, senior Carolina Huignard (Don Mills, Ontario) and junior Olga Votavova (Prague, Czech Republic) posted singles wins against Boston College. Huignard defeated Sarah Svoboda, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (6) and Votavova bested Lauren Cash in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
On Sunday, the Orange split six singles matches against Brown. Votavova won her second match of the weekend, defeating Daisy Ames, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (6). Senior Ashley Lipton (Saratoga, Calif.) and junior Catherine Zawadzki (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also posted singles victories. The also swept the three doubles pairings with Brown.
The Orange opens the spring season at home on January 22 against Yale.
