The Orange hosts Connecticut on Sunday in the team’s final home game of the season. Syracuse will also be celebrating Senior Day. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at Manley Field House. Syracuse enters the match with an 11-21 record and is 5-7 in BIG EAST play.
Orange to Honor Senior Erin McQuillin
Syracuse will honor its lone senior on ‘Senior Day’ against Connecticut on Sunday as Erin McQuillin (West Chester, Pa.) will play her final match in the Manley Field House. McQuillin has played an imporant role for one of the most successful teams in the program’s history over the past four seasons. She has played in 119 matches and averages 1.72 kills per game and .92 blocks per game, helping Syracuse to a 78-54 record over that time. McQuillin has also been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll all six of her semesters and was honored as a BIG EAST Academic All-Star from 2003 to 2005.
The Syracuse - Connecticut Series
In a series that dates back to the 1980 season, Syracuse holds a 25-12 all-time advantage against the Huskies. The Orange has won the last two matches between the two schools, including a 3-1 (30-23, 30-23, 24-30, 30-20) victory in 2005. The Huskies won the three prior meetings before 2004.
Scouting the Huskies
Connecticut enters the weekend with a 16-10 record and is 5-6 in BIG EAST play. The Huskies had won their last three matches, all against conference competition, before losing to Marquette on Friday. Junior Sade Chambers leads the team with 3.09 kills per game. Freshman Bridget Denson-Dorman is averaging a team-best 12.48 assists per game, which ranks third in the conference. Senior Megan Silver and sophomore Lorelle Shaub rank eight and 10th, respectively, in the BIG EAST in blocks per game. Freshman Jessica Isaac ranks third in the conference with 5.09 digs per game.
