SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The SU men’s rowing team will compete in its first of two year-end races on Sunday when it squares-off with some of the top crews in the country at the Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Mass. The SU varsity eight will be on the water for its morning preliminary heat at approximately 11:36 a.m. with the finals to take place at approximately 6:00 p.m. The Orange will have boats competing in the freshmen eight, second varsity eight and varsity eight events. Seven of the nations top 10 varsity eights will be competing on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday.

The Orange enters the postseason on a hot streak as the varsity eight went undefeated during the regular season, earning them the number eight ranking in the latest USRowing Varsity Eights Coaches Poll. In addition to the varsity being on a roll, the second varsity eight and freshmen eight crews have each won two straight races.
The varsity eight will line-up in lane three in the first varsity heavyweight heat on Sunday. Joining the Orange in the first heat will be Princeton, Yale, Columbia and Georgetown. The junior varsity eight will race in lane four and go against Northeastern, Princeton, Georgetown and Dartmouth. The freshmen eight boat will be in lane six in the second freshmen heavyweight race and will be taking on Brown, Northeastern, Wisconsin and Rutgers. The top two finishers from the morning heats will advance to the grand finals.
Members of the varsity eight boat on Sunday will be sophomore Ryan Armstrong (Andover, Mass.), senior Terry Wilkin (King of Prussia, Pa.), junior Tim Mambort (Toledo, Ohio), junior Dave Barone (Maumee, Ohio), senior Dan O’Shaughnessy (Elizabethtown, Ontario), junior Bartosz Szczyrba (Poznan, Poland), junior Justin Stangel (Madison, Wisc.), junior Matt Morrow (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and junior Chad Taylor (New Milford, Conn.).
