PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore forward Tom Perevegyencev (Budapest, Hungary) was selected to the BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Oct. 15. Perevegyencev tallied the first game-winning goal of his career to lift the Orange to a 1-0 victory against Cincinnati Saturday night.
Perevegyencev found the back of the net with 1:38 left in the second half to snap a scoreless tie. The play started when he gathered a pass in the far right corner and darted toward the goal. He eluded two Cincinnati defenders and fired a shot inside the far post from 12 yards out to give SU the win.
It was the fourth goal of the year for Perevegyencev, who made his second career start in the contest. Perevegyencev ranks second on the team in scoring (10 points), goals (4) and is tied for second on the squad with two assists. The goal was his second in two games (Perevegyencev also had SU’s lone tally at Rutgers on Oct. 7), marking the first time in his career he notched a goal in back-to-back outings.
The Orange will wrap up its non-conference schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 17 with a match at Hartwick. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m.
