Orange Men Victorious in BU Dual meet

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - In what marks the last dual meet competition until January 26, 2008, the men’s swimming and diving team came away victorious for the second time this season by defeating Boston University 130-111 on Saturday at Webster Pool. The women’s team (1-2) lost by a slim margin of 122-119 despite posting first-place finishes in seven events.
The Orange men’s team (2-1) was bolstered by a first, second and third-place finish in the 200 IM, with freshman Kuba Kotynia (1:57.54) touching first, followed by sophomore Glenn Kalata (1:58.40) and freshman Berk Kahraman (2:00.01). Kotynia also won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:06.36. Sophomore Boldiszar Kiss (48.62) and junior Matt Brock (48.99) contributed points by placing first and third in the 100 free, respectively.
On the women’s side, freshman Natalie Mazzetta claimed first in three events for the second straight meet, winning the 200 freestyle (1:52.51), the 200 butterfly (2:04.30) and 500 freestyle (5:06.55). Freshman Katlin O’Hara (53.19) and sophomore Carolyn Delkus (53.26) placed first and second in the 100 freestyle while O’Hara also came through with a win in the 50 free (24.51). Sophomore Brigette O’Shaughnessy nabbed first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:08.52) and the 200 breaststroke (2:21.89) for the Terriers.
Syracuse will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the three-day Nike Cup beginning Thursday, Nov. 15.
