The 2008 women's basketball recruiting classes is getting more recognition, this time by HoopGurlz.com,which has head coach Quentin Hillsman's incoming group ranked 14th nationally. The class includes four top-60 high school seniors and a top-30 junior college player.
College Girl's Basketball Report ranked the class 13th-best and Blue Star Basketball placed it 15th-best. Next year's newcomers includes the No. 24, No. 54, No. 58 and No. 59 high school seniors and the No. 30 junior college player in the country.
High school seniors Tyler Ash (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool H.S.), Shakeya Leary (New York, N.Y./Murry Bergtraum), Lynnae Lampkins (Upper Marlboro, Md./Gwynn Park H.S.) and Troya Berry (Flint, Mich./ Flint Hamady) and junior college transfer Lynnise Nixon (Philadelphia Pa./ Frankford H.S./Monroe C.C.) all signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Syracuse University and play women’s basketball.
The Orange hosts Penn State in the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6.
