LeBlanc earned the invitation by posting a time of 6.67 seconds at the Penn State National Open earlier in the season. His time helped him win his first collegiate event and also set the school record. LeBlanc broke Samuel Okantey’s mark of 6.69 set in 1999.
LeBlanc continued to have success throughout the indoor season. He set the BIG EAST Championship record in the 60m dash, recording a time of 6.71 during the preliminary round. LeBlanc also set the IC4A Championship record in the 55m dash, posting a time of 6.21 to win the IC4A title. LeBlanc broke the record of 6.22, which had remained the standard since 1986, and finished nearly two tenths of a second ahead of the second-place finisher.
LeBlanc and the Orange now switch its focus to the outdoor season. Syracuse will compete at the Hurricane Invitational on March 16 and 17.
