Orange Sport Spotlight - April 30

Six Syracuse teams competed during the week of April 23-29. The Orange took home numerous honors during the week, including the inaugural BIG EAST Championship Tournament title in women's lacrosse. The Orange also claimed titles in men's and women's rowing and won events on the softball diamond and track.
Women's Lacrosse (12-4, 4-1 BIG EAST)
The seventh-ranked Orange won the inaugural BIG EAST Championship Tournament, defeating No. 16 Rutgers, 13-7, and No. 10 Georgetown, 12-7, to win the title. With the win, Syracuse earned a spot to the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Amber Pardee-Hill recorded 13 saves in the championship game to win the championship's Most Outstanding Player. At the year-end banquet, head coach Lisa Miller was named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year and a school-record six players earned all-conference honors.

The ninth-ranked men's crew team defended its Conlan Cup by defeating Columbia and Boston University.

Women's Rowing
The women's rowing team finished third at the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday. The Orange recorded 101 points, a 25-point improvement from last season. SU's 25 improvement was the best in the conference. West Virginia was second with an eight-point improvement. The SU novice 8 took home the conference title for the second-consecutive season.
