TAMPA, Fla. – Senior Orange defender Brad Peetoom (Abbotsford, British Columbia) has been named to the 2007 United Soccer League’s (USL) Premier Development League Western All-Conference Team. Peetoom, a member of the Abbotsford Rangers, was one of three backs named to the all-conference squad, joining Luke Sassano (Univ. of California) of the San Jose Frogs and Hugh Van Wagenen of BYU.
Peetoom logged more than 1,200 minutes in 13 games for the Rangers this season. He tallied two goals and an assist, helping Abbotsford to a 6-6-4 overall record and a third-place finish in the Western Conference’s Northwest Division.
Peetoom, SU’s 2007 team captain, has been selected as the team’s Defensive MVP in each of his first three years with the Orange. He has started all 49 matches in his SU career and has five goals and one assist. Defensively, he has contributed to 13 shutouts.
The Orange begins the 2007 campaign at the Wolstein Classic in Columbus, Ohio on Aug. 31 and Sept. 2. Syracuse will take on Penn State in the season opener and square off against the host Buckeyes two days later.
