Syracuse Tennis Signs Wickman to National Letter of Intent

SYRACUSE, NY – Recent East Grand Rapids High School graduate Ally Wickman (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Syracuse tennis team, head coach Luke Jensen announced July 9.
While at East Grand Rapids, Wickman captured the No. 1 doubles state championship in 2003 before reaching the semifinals in 2004. A four-time No. 1 singles regional champion (2003-06) and two-time state runner-up (2005-06), Wickman won three conference crowns (2003, 2005-06). Prior to becoming a two-time All-America selection at the University of Southern California, Jensen graduated from East Grand Rapids in 1985.
Wickman brings with her an experienced playing career on the national and regional level. After posting a 35-41 overall record, Wickman ranked 513th out of nearly 3,000 players in the 2006 Junior National Standings. At the 2006 Copper Bowl, Wickman tallied a 5-2 record. At the Midwest Open Championship and Western Michigan Indoor Championship, Wickman posted identical 3-1 marks.
The Orange is scheduled to begin its season on Friday, October 5 at the Billie Jean King Tournament in New York, N.Y.
