BOSTON –The Orange men’s rowing team concludes its fall season on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Tail of the Charles in Boston. Syracuse will enter six boats in the regatta; four fours and two freshman eights. Races begin at 8:30 a.m. with the fours taking the water first.
The Charles River separates Boston from Cambridge and Charlestown. It is fed by about 80 brooks and streams and several major aquifers as it flows snakelike for 80 miles through 22 cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts before emptying into Boston Harbor. The waterway is home to the Head of the Charles Regatta, which takes place every October, and is the largest two-day regatta in the world.
Saturday’s competition is the Orange’s third and final race this fall. After Saturday’s outing, Syracuse will head indoors for winter training before returning to the water in the spring.
The Orange is coming off two first-place finishes at the Syracuse Invitational on Nov. 1. SU’s varsity four won its race with a time of 16:48.8. The novice eight also captured first place at the event, finishing with a time of 16:04.0.
