Syracuse Swimmers Complete Day One of U.S. Short Course Nationals

Atlanta, Ga. – Members of the Syracuse men’s and women’s swimming team competed in day one of the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming Short Course National Championships today hosted by Georgia Tech. The individuals competed alongside seven members of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team.
Competing in the preliminaries on the men’s side on the first day were juniors Boldiszar Kiss and Alexander Taraskin. Kiss finished with a time of 1:52.33 in the 200 IM, while Taraskin finished the 500 free at a clip of 4:40.41.
Representing the women today were sophomore Natalie Mazzetta, sophomore Katlin O’Hara, senior Sarah Manning and juniors Katelyn Schumacher and Carolyn Delkus. Mazzetta swam the 500 free and finished with a time of 4:58.83. O’Hara, Manning, Schumacher and Delkus joined forces in the 4x50 Freestyle. The team finished 18th with a time of 1:37.85 to qualify as the second reserve team for the finals.
More Orange swimmers will be in action tomorrow in day two of the S.C. Nationals. The morning session begins at 9:30 a.m. and the finals begin at 6 p.m. Event results can be found at USASwimming.org and a webcast of all event finals is available on Swimnetwork.com.
