NEW ORLEANS, La. – Senior Liz Cufari, junior Jeff Scull, sophomore Dan Busby and freshman Katie Hursey have earned NCAA Division I U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic recognition, the association announced February 25.
“This honor exemplifies the complete student-athlete,” said third-year Syracuse head coach Chris Fox. “It’s tremendous to see the hard work of these four individuals pay off.”

Cufari is a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and has been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll four times while at Syracuse. She earned All-BIG EAST honors in 2005 and received Northeast All-Region recognition in 2007. Cufari is a dual-major in sociology and inclusive education.
Scull was named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star and twice garnered Athletic Director’s Honor Roll laurels following the 2006-07 academic year. He claimed All-BIG EAST and Northeast All-Region accolades in 2007. Scull earned an individual qualifying invitation to the 2007 Division I Cross Country National Championship. He is a majoring in nutrition.
Busby garnered BIG EAST Academic All-Star honors and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll recognition following his rookie campaign in 2006-07. He captured All-BIG EAST and Northeast All-Region in 2007. Busby is a dual-major in accounting and finance.
Hursey was a Northeast All-Region performer in 2007 and finished 23rd at the BIG EAST Championship. She is majoring in health and exercise science.
The Syracuse men’s cross country team received the program’s first national ranking, coming in at No. 26, on September 26, 2007. The Orange women earned votes in the national poll for the first time in program history, as well.
