
The Orange has climbed to No. 4 in the national polls, the highest ranking in the history of the program.
Orange Reaches New Heights, Climbs to No. 4 in National Rankings

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women’s lacrosse team has climbed one spot in both the IWLCA and the Inside Lacrosse polls and is now ranked No. 4 in the nation. It marks the highest ranking in the history of the program which began in 1998.
The Orange started the season ranked No. 5 in both polls. Syracuse moved up a spot following convincing wins against Canisius, 24-3, and No. 17/14 Dartmouth, 18-5. Three-time national champion Northwestern, Syracuse’s opponent at the Carrier Dome on March 24, remains the top-ranked team in both polls, followed by Virginia. The IWLCA poll has Duke at No. 3, while the Inside Lacrosse poll has Maryland in the third spot.
Syracuse is one of three teams from the BIG EAST Conference ranked in the top 20. Georgetown is ranked No. 9 followed by Notre Dame at No. 10 in the IWLCA poll. Both teams also appear in the Inside Lacrosse rankings, with Notre Dame at No. 9 and the Hoyas at No. 13.
The Orange will try for its third-straight win to open the season on Saturday when it travels to Charlottesville, Va., to take on No. 2 Virginia at 1 p.m.
