SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 11th-ranked Syracuse men's crew squad posted its 11th-consecutive cup victory today. The Orange retained the Conlan Cup for the third straight season defeating No. 17 Boston University. No. 7 Columbia won the varsity eight race, but he Conlan Cup is a competition solely between BU and Syracuse. The Orange swept the remaining three races, winning the second varsity eight, freshman eight and second freshman eight race.
“I thought it was good racing. You could see coming down the course that we tried to keep the pressure on Columbia. When you get down early you got to keep the hammer down and keep pressing hard and it looked like we did that. Unfortunate Columbia wasn't falling into that strategy,” head coach Dave Reischman said. “If you are up in a race you have to keep the hammer down, keep racing hard and rely on your fitness and Columbia did that. I thought it was a good race for us. We weren't disappointed in the effort, we weren't disappointed in how we executed. It was good racing. Right now Columbia is a little faster. “
