Head coach Dean Foti has several lineup combinations at his disposal in the midfield. Junior Kenny Caceros and sophomore Geoff Lytle developed into consistent performers at the position in the offseason. Caceros worked his way into the starting lineup in the latter part of the 2007 season and continued playing well in the spring. Lytle saw action in seven games last fall and proved he could compete at the Division I level.
In addition, Woodruff and Rowley can each drop into the middle third and contribute.
The X factor will be senior Isaac Collings. Hampered by injuries his entire career, Collings was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA for 2008. Collings dished out five assists in 2005 and is one of the squad’s top playmakers when he’s healthy.
"We need to see how far along he is," Foti said of Collings. "Eventually, because he has that attacking quality, he’s going to figure somewhere in the front half of the team if he’s fit and injury free."
Several youngsters will also figure into the mix for playing time. Foti brought in one of the top local prospects in Liverpool’s Charles Schoening. Foti also nabbed high school All-American David Neumann and Canadian Youth National star Kevin Chan-Yu-Tin.
