SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse Orange field hockey has jumped up seven places to No. 2 in the latest womensfieldhockey.com Poll. The ranking is seven spots higher than the program’s previous best of ninth, which it achieved last week. The STX/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, where the Orange is seventh, comes out later today.
Senior goalkeeper Heather Hess was named to the womensfieldhockey.com Player of the Week for her performances at top-ranked Maryland and against Delaware. Hess made a key save in the final seconds of the game against Maryland, her tenth of the day, to help the Orange upset the Terps 2-1. She followed that up with a three-save performance as Syracuse kept a perfect record with a 5-1 defeat of Delaware.
