
Orange's Winning Streak Snapped at No. 11/13 West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Syracuse had its two-game winning streak snapped in an 8-0 loss to No. 11/13 West Virginia on Sunday, Sept. 28 in Morgantown, W.Va. The Orange moves to 4-4-2 overall this season, 1-1-1 in the BIG EAST, while West Virginia improves to 7-1-3 overall, 2-0-1 in league play.
West Virginia notched its first goal 5:33 into the game when Blake Miller scored on a shot from 12 yards out. The Mountaineers extended their lead on Megan Mischler’s goal at the 22:16 mark before Carolyn Blank scored the final goal of the half in the 30th minute to give West Virginia 3-0 lead at intermission. The Mountaineers continued to build their lead in the second half.
Syracuse recorded five shots and one corner kick, while West Virginia had 17 shots and three corner kicks.
The Orange is back in action on Friday when it plays at Georgetown at 3 p.m.
