Directions to the Harry Lang Invitational
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men’s and women’s cross country teams head to Hamilton, N.Y. to start up the 2008 cross country season at the Harry Lang Invitational hosted by Colgate University on Saturday, September 6.
Following a 2007 campaign in which the men claimed third-place at the Northeast Regional Championship, fourth-year head coach Chris Fox returns two-time Northeast All-Region runners in junior Dan Busby and senior Jeff Scull. Busby ran for a 14th-place individual finish at the BIG EAST Championship with a clip of 24:09.70 and earned a spot on the 2007 All-BIG EAST cross country team. Scull was an automatic qualifier for the 2007 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship and earned All-BIG EAST honors in addition to earning a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team in 2007. Scull was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2008 Track & Field/Cross Country First Team. The men’s harriers wrapped up fifth-place at the BIG EAST Championship.
As for the Orange women, SU is fresh off of fourth-place finishes in both the BIG EAST Championship and the Northeast Regional Championship. Syracuse is poised to chalk up some quick times with the return of senior Nana Sang-Bender, juniors Maegan Krifchin and Stefanie Slekis and sophomore Katie Hursey. Hursey and Sang-Bender picked up 2007 Northeast All-Region accolades, Sang-Bender’s second consecutive selection. SU’s senior is a two-time all-conference component, as well. Krifchin and Slekis enhance the Orange line-up after two years of proven times for Fox’s squad.
Following the Orange’s first meet, the team will participate at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational in University Park, Pa.
