SU Opens Year at Poughkeepsie Regatta

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's rowing team opens its 2009 fall season on October 3 at the Poughkeepsie Regatta. Syracuse enters the 2009-10 season with high expectations and a fierce commitment to make the upcoming year extraordinary. With a senior class of 11 student-athletes leading the way, head coach Kris Sanford is excited and optimistic for what this year's group can achieve.
"Having athletes who have been around the team for five year will be instrumental in developing the younger rowers and helping them to transition into the life of a student-athlete," said Sanford.
The Hudson River Rowing Association (HRRA) will run the regatta. The race will be run on the old IRA racecourse starting roughly at the Culinary Institute of America and finishing at the HRRA boathouse (2.3 miles).
