Orange Successful at Billie Jean King Invitational

The doubles pairing of junior Katlyn Haycock and sophomore Allison Haynes led the Orange tennis team at the Billie Jean King Invitational over the weekend. The tournament was held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, N.Y., which also hosts the U.S. Open every year.
Haycock and Haynes advanced to the semifinals of IV Flight doubles with an 8-4 first-round victory and an 8-5 win in the quarterfinals. The duo fell, 8-2, in its semifinal match.
Sophomore Emily Harman represented the Orange in A Flight singles, winning the second consolation with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Katarina Gajic. Harman fell to Annie Houghton, 6-4, 6-1 in the opening round and Denise Harijanto, 6-0, 6-3 in first consolation play.
Haycock went 0-3 in F Flight singles action while teammate Jacquelynn Tang lost a pair of matches in B Flight singles. Haynes rounded out the singles lineup for the Orange, going 0-3 in E Flight competition.
Harman and Tang also combined in doubles play, picking up a pair of losses.
The Orange wraps up its fall schedule at the ITA Northeast Regional Indoor Championship. The four-day event will begin on Friday, October 23.
