
Orange Returns Home to Face Wagner

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The RV/RV Syracuse women's basketball team will attempt to go 7-0 for the first time since 1997-98 when it hosts Wagner on Wednesday, December 2 at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse has won 19 consecutive non-conference home games, while it is 24-8 in the Dome during the past three seasons. Last Time Out
The Orange continued its undefeated win streak at the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic in Cancun, Mexico with wins against Old Dominion, 65-32, and Butler, 80-64. Against Old Dominion, SU gave up just 11 second-half points, which tied an ODU record low for points in a half. Senior forward Nicole Michael led the team with 18 points and eight rebounds, while junior guard Erica Morrow added 16. Senior forward Juanita Ward pulled down a season-high 10 boards. The Orange continued its winning ways against Butler, when Morrow broke the 1,000 career point barrier, as she led all scorers and matched her career-high with a season-high 29 points to go along with six rebounds. Michael and freshman center Kayla Alexander each contributed 18.
Morrow Named BIG EAST Player of the Week
Morrow was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week for her performance at the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic on November 26 and 27. In the rout of Old Dominion, she had 16 points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists. Against Butler, Morrow matched a career high with 29 points and grabbed six rebounds. She shot 10-of-21 from the floor, 4-of-9 from behind the arc, and went 5-of-7 from the foul line. She was also named the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic Most Outstanding Player. It was the first conference Player of the Week honor for a Syracuse player since December 5, 2005 when Vaida Sipaviciute earned the accolade for her record-breaking performance against Colgate.
Michael Named to All-Tournament Team
Michael was named to the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team for her performance in SU's victories against Old Dominion and Butler. She led the team with 18 points and eight rebounds in the 65-32 win against ODU. The senior made 7-of-15 field goals and shot 3-of-6 from 3-point range. She added 18 points and four rebounds in the 80-64 victory against Butler, when she shot 8-of-12 from the field.
Orange Against the Seahawks
The game will mark the first meeting between Syracuse and Wagner. The Orange is 2-0 this season against first-time opponents after defeating Presbyterian and Alabama State.
Scouting Wagner
The Seahawks are 2-3 this season after junior guard Stephanie McBride scored a 3-pointer with 28.4 seconds remaining to beat American, 73-72 on November 28. Wagner shot 50.0 percent (27-54) from the floor, including a 57.7 percent (15-26) in the first half. The Seahawks are led by McBride's 11.5 points per game, while junior forward Ashley Olsen has grabbed a team-best 10.2 rebounds per outing. S. McBride is the younger sister of former Orange great Julie McBride (2001-04), who is SU's all-time leading scorer (1,605) and ranks first in assists (574).
