Orange No. 2 in Women's Lacrosse Poll

The Syracuse women's lacrosse team is ranked No. 2 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) preseason poll released on Tuesday, February 9. The Orange received one first-place vote and garnered 365 points. Four-time defending national champion Northwestern was picked No. 1, with 19 first-place votes and 399 points.
Last season Syracuse attained its highest regular-season ranking in school history, climbing to No. 4 in the IWLCA Coaches poll and No. 3 in the Inside Lacrosse rankings.

Syracuse faces nine teams ranked in the preseason top 20, including No. 4 Virginia on Feb. 27 in the Carrier Dome, and the top-ranked Wildcats on March 22 in Evanston, Ill. The Orange is one of three BIG EAST teams in the poll, which also includes Georgetown (No. 9) and Notre Dame (No. 11).
The 2009 campaign begins on Sunday, Feb. 15 when Syracuse hosts Le Moyne at noon in the Carrier Dome. Tickets for that game are now on sale online at SUathletics.com and at the Carrier Dome Box Office.
