SU Varsity Eight Crew Wins Orange Cup And BIG EAST Weekly Honor

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Syracuse women's rowing varsity eight won the Orange Cup for the first time since 2005 following its three-second victory against Northeastern and Pennsylvania on April 11 in Syracuse, N.Y. It marked the sixth time Syracuse had won the Cup in its 30-year history. The crew is ranked seventh in the Eastern Association of Women's Rowing Colleges Coaches Poll, and also earned BIG EAST Crew of the Week.
The Orange finished the 2,000-meter Orange Cup course in 7:03.8. Northeastern finished second with a time of 7:06.3 and Pennsylvania came in third at 7:08.1. The SU crew included three seniors, coxswain Kate Todd, Liz Henwood and Jess Tacinelli, juniors Sydney Axson, Heidi Bulk and Susan Groff and sophomores Natalie Mastracci, Rachael Ogundiran and Allison Ehrke.
Syracuse will host Radcliff and Dartmouth at the Ten Eyck Boathouse at Onondaga Lake Outlet in Longbranch Park, N.Y. on April 18.
