Kochis CRCA Regional Coach of the Year

SYRACUSE – Syracuse University women's rowing assistant coach Alicea Kochis was named the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCC) Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year. The award is designed to recognize an assistant coach or associate head coach who meets one or more of the following criteria: Outstanding commitment to his/her program, made a significant impact on the success of his/her program and demonstrated a high level of professionalism and integrity as a coach.
Kochis assists head coach Kris Sanford with all aspects of the program, including recruiting. She also works with the Orange novice teams. The novice eight shell had a tremendous season, finished first at the BIG EAST Championship and sixth at the Eastern Sprints. The Orange also defeated Harvard, Dartmouth, Pennsylvania, Northeastern and Cornell during the spring.
As an athlete Kochis helped the Orange to three consecutive NCAA Championship appearances from 2000 t0 2002.
