Gennaro, Etem Named to U23 Team

Syracuse University men's rowers Mike Gennaro and Martin Etem have been named to the 2009 Under 23 United States National Team. Gennaro will compete as bow seat in the straight four (four without coxswain) event. Etem will row as the two seat of the Quad (short for quadruple sculls). Gennaro and Etem will represent the United States at the 2009 World Rowing Under 23 Championships scheduled for July 23-26 in Racice, Czech Republic.
Gennaro sat stroke of the varsity eight during the 2008-09 season, while Etem sat in the six seat. They helped claim the Packard and Conlan Cups and placed second in the petite finals of the Eastern Sprints. The varsity eight finished the season with an eighth-place finish at the IRA.
