
Alexander Nets Career-Best in SU Win

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore center Kayla Alexander netted a career-high 24 points to lead Syracuse (4-0) to an 87-46 win against New Hampshire (1-4) in the Carrier Dome on Monday night. It marked the 32nd consecutive non-conference home victory for the Orange and the 26th in the Carrier Dome as the team improved to 4-0 for the second-consecutive season.
Alexander was 9-12 from the floor and 6-7 from the charity stripe in her career performance while adding four rebounds, four blocks and three steals. Senior guard Erica Morrow and freshman guard La'Shay Taft each added 12 points for the Orange. Morrow was 4-6 from the floor including a trio of threes while directing the offense with eight assists while Taft was 4-9 from behind the arc.
The Orange turned 29 New Hampshire turnovers into 33 points, led by Morrow, who had five steals in the win. Sophomore guard Elashier Hall rounded out the double-digit scorers for the squad, netting 10 points while helping to lead the defensive effort with seven rebounds. Redshirt freshman forward Shakeya Leary also had seven boards.
New Hampshire got off to a fast start outscoring the Orange, 16-11, through the first 6:30 minutes of play. Syracuse found its rhythm through the next seven minutes, assembling an 18-2 scoring run to take a 29-18 lead. Alexander propelled the run with four points while Morrow and Taft each connected from beyond the arc.
The Orange continued to outpace the Wildcats, 13-5, through the remainder of the half to go into the break with a 42-23 advantage.
SU opened the second half in similar fashion, compiling a 15-6 run out of the intermission to take a 57-29 lead with 12:59 remaining in regulation. The Orange continued to run throughout the remainder of regulation, cruising to an 87-46 win.
Syracuse returns the Carrier Dome after a quick turnaround on Wednesday, December 1 when it hosts Maryland Eastern Shore at 7 p.m.
