SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse (5-0) continues its eight-game season-opening homestand when it entertains Delaware State (1-4) on Saturday, December 4 at 12 p.m. The Orange looks to improve to 6-0 on the season for the second-consecutive year while extending its non-conference home winning streak to 34. Fans with tickets to the men's game against N.C. State at 5:30 p.m. are invited to attend the women's game for FREE.

Last Time Out
Sophomore center Kayla Alexander set a career-high for the second-consecutive game with 27 points as Syracuse defeated Maryland Eastern Shore, 73-50, on Dec. 1 at the Carrier Dome. Alexander led all scorers shooting a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the charity stripe while adding seven rebounds and four blocks.
The Orange was dominant on the glass, holding a 56-27 advantage on the boards while dominating in the paint, 40-20. Junior guard Iasia Hemingway posted her first Syracuse double-double with 20 points and a career-best 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas also had a double-double, her third of the season, with 10 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. Senior guard Tasha Harris directed the offense with a team-best six assists.
Team Work Is Good
The Orange recorded 14 assists on 23 made baskets in its victory versus Maryland Eastern Shore last time out. Syracuse is averaging 16.2 assists per game and recorded 51 in its last three outings.
USA today/ESPN Coaches Poll
For the fourth consecutive season the Orange is receiving national attention. Syracuse garnered two votes in the most recent USA today/ESPN Coaches Poll, putting SU in a tie for 34th.
The Orange has now received votes or been ranked in 37 weeks during the last four seasons.
Back-to-Back
Center Kayla Alexander eclipsed her career-high in Syracuse's last two outings. The sophomore set a career-high for the second consecutive game with 27 points as Syracuse defeated Maryland Eastern Shore, 73-50, on Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome. Alexander led all scorers shooting a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the charity stripe while adding seven rebounds and four blocks.
The Milton, Ontario native netted a then career-high 24 points to lead Syracuse to an 87-46 win against New Hampshire. Alexander was 9-12 (.750) from the floor and 6-7 (.857) from the charity stripe in her career performance while adding four rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
Alexander also registered her second career double-double in the season-opener with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The 2009-10 BIG EAST All-Rookie Team honoree leads the team in points (17.6), field-goal percentage (.727) and blocks (3.4) and is second in rebounds (6.8). She has also made (24) and attempted (31) a team-best number of free throws.
Baby Barkley Attacks
Guard Iasia Hemingway tallied her first BIG game for the Orange after transferring from Georgia Tech and sitting out last season. The junior posted her first Syracuse double-double with 20 points and a career-best 12 rebounds. She was 7-of-9 (.778) from the field and 6-of-7 (.857) from the charity stripe.
Hemingway is second in points (12.4) and field-goal percentage (.667) and is third in rebounds (6.6).
The Newark, N.J. native scored 17 points in the season-opener.
Ms. Double-Double
Guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas has recorded three double-doubles already this season. The sophomore recorded her fifth career double-double with 10 points a career-best 13 rebounds as Syracuse defeated UMES, 73-50, on Dec. 2.
She also registered a double-double in the season-opener with 15 points and 12 rebounds and in SU's win against Long Island, posting 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Philadelphia native is leading the Orange in rebounds (9.0) and is tied for third in points (10.8).
Undefeated
Syracuse is 5-0 for the second consecutive season. An Orange victory against Delaware State will give SU a 6-0 record for the second straight year. It would be the seventh 6-0 start in program history.
Scouting Delaware State
Delaware State (1-4) are 1-3 on the season. DSU is coming off a 65-57 loss to Seton Hall in Dover, Del. on Dec. 1. Freshman guards Kianna Conner and Deanna Harmon lead the team in scoring at 8.2 and 8.0 points per game. Harmon also lead the Lady Hornets in assists at 3.0 per game. Sophomore forward Kianna D'Oliveira is third on the team at 7.4 ppg. Junior Brittany Washington tops the team in rebounding at 6.6 per game.
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference coaches and sports information representatives picked the Lady Hornets to finish 10th in the MEAC race this season.
Delaware State was 6-24 overall and finished 10th in the MEAC with a 4-12 league mark during the 2009-10 season. DSU returns seven letterwinners and three starters from last year's squad.
All-Time Series
The 2010-11 season marks the third consecutive year that the two teams have met in the Carrier
Dome. The Orange has outscored the Lady Hornets, 126-57, in those two games, including a 72-20 victory on Dec. 22, 2009.
Last Season's Meeting
Syracuse was untouchable in its 72-20 victory against Delaware State on Dec. 22, 2009 at the Carrier Dome.
Kayla Alexander led nine different players who scored for Syracuse, including three in double-figures. Alexander matched a game-high 17 points with six rebounds and a pair of blocked shots in a reserve role.
Syracuse dominated the Hornets under the basket, holding a 34-6 advantage in points in the paint and a 49-25 edge in rebounding. The Orange also posted a 15-0 advantage in second-chance points while benefitting from 49 points off the bench.
Lynnae Lampkins tallied 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting and 3-of-4 from three-point range. Tyler Ash rounded out the double-digit scorers, matching 10 points with nine boards.
Nicole Michael set the tone for the Syracuse defense, corralling a game-high 12 rebounds while adding nine points, a pair of blocked shots, two assists and three steals. Carmen Tyson-Thomas matched eight points with eight rebounds in a reserve role while Erica Morrow had seven points and a pair of steals.
