Crew Travels to San Diego for Season’s First Race

SAN DIEGO – The Syracuse University men's rowing team begins the 2010 season at the San Diego Crew Class on March 27-28. The varsity eight boat will be competing for the Men's Collegiate Varsity International Copley Cup beginning on Saturday, March 27 at 11:30 a.m. ET. at Crown Point Showers on Mission Bay in San Diego, Calif. The varsity eight boat lineup includes Dan Berry (bow), Ryan Patton (2-seat), Mike Dietrick (3-seat), Tyson Bry (4-seat), Vince Berry (5-seat), Dan Turner (6-seat), Chris Lutz (7-seat), Mike Gennaro (stroke) and Ken Marfilius (cox).
The Orange returns seven member of last season's varsity eight boat that finished eighth eighth at last year's IRA Championship. Syracuse will be competing against California, Boston University, Temple and UC San Diego. Stanford, Brown, Northeastern, Michigan, UC Davis and San Diego are racing in heat two.
The top three boats advance to the Men's Collegiate Varsity International Final on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET. If the Orange does not finish in the top three, SU will compete in the Men's Collegiate Varsity International Petite race on Sunday at noon ET.
