Syracuse Visits Cornell Thursday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Orange (19-16) looks to continue its dominance against in-state foes when it visits Cornell (21-8) for a doubleheader on Thursday, April 15 at Niemand Robinson Field in Ithaca, N.Y. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. Syracuse is 4-0 against in-state foes this season after sweeping St. John's and Buffalo in home doubleheaders earlier this season.

Last At Bat
Syracuse went 4-1 last week, sweeping St. John's in a mid-week doubleheader before taking a three-game weekend series from Providence, 2-1.
Freshman Stacy Kuwik emerged as an offensive leader for the Orange during its five-game homestand, batting .545 in four starts at designated player. Kuwik collected six hits, including her first career double and drove in eight runs to earn BIG EAST Honor Roll mention. Sophomore Stephanie Watts was also strong at the plate, batting .500 with six runs scored and five RBI in three starts.
Sophomore Jenna Caira was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for her performances, going 3-0 in the circle with a 1.56 ERA, striking out 28 in 18.0 innings.
Scouting the Big Red
The defending Ivy League champions enter Thursday's doubleheader on a hot streak after winning all six of its games last week. The Big Red batted .369 and averaged more than seven runs per game in its six contests. Junior Elizabeth Dalrymple led Cornell in the circle, going 3-0 without allowing an earned run in 21.1 innings while fanning 32.
Cornell head coach Dick Blood, currently in his 15th season with the Big Red, enters Thursday's contest one win shy of his 500th career victory.
All-Time Series
Syracuse leads the all-time series with Cornell, 10-8, after sweeping the Big Red in a home doubleheader in 2009.
