Orange Visits Penn State Tuesday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Syracuse (25-20) looks to build a win streak when it visits Penn State (28-16) for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 27 beginning at 3 p.m. The Nittany Lions are one of two non-conference opponents remaining on the Orange's schedule, the team will also visit in-state foe Canisius next Tuesday.

Last At Bat
The Orange took a weekend series with Connecticut, 2-1. The Huskies took the top half of a Saturday doubleheader after a Syracuse seventh inning comeback fell short, 3-2. SU rallied, outscoring the Huskies, 14-7, to take the next two games, 9-6 and 5-1.
Junior Hallie Gibbs led the Orange, batting .500 with a pair of home runs, four RBI and three runs scored. Classmate Rachel Helman was second, hitting .375 with a pair of runs scored while sophomores Lisaira Daniels and Lacey Kohl each hit .333.
Sophomore Jenna Caira was the leading pitcher for the Orange, appearing in all three games, going 1-1 in the circle. Caira allowed four earned runs while walking three and striking out 16 in 15.0 innings.
All-Time Series
Penn State leads the all-time series, 7-1, which dates back to 2001. The two teams most recently met on February 24, 2008 in a neutral site contest with the Nittany Lions emerging victorious, 8-0, in five innings.
The Orange earned its lone victory of the series in the bottom of a doubleheader on April 24, 2001, earning an eight inning, 2-1 victory.
