
Orange Looks to Extend Win Streak at Pitt

PITTSBURGH – Syracuse (27-20, 9-7) looks to extend its win streak to five games when it visits Pittsburgh (24-20, 8-8) for a three-game weekend series at Trees Field. The teams will meet in a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1 at 12 p.m. before completing the series with the rubber match on Sunday, May 2 at 12 p.m.

Last At Bat
The Orange was dominant in a mid-week doubleheader at Penn State, sweeping the Nittany Lions, 2-0 and 5-1, to earn just its second and third victories of the all-time series.
Sophomore Jenna Caira was dominant in the circle, one-hitting PSU while striking out 13 in game one, before continuing on for five innings in game two – a one-hit, seven strikeout performance. Caira earned both wins in the sweep, striking out every player in the Nittany Lions order at least once through the 12.0 innings.
Rookie centerfielder Veronica Grant set the tone for the Orange offense, hitting .571 while batting in the number two spot for the first time this season. She notched an RBI, a pair of stolen bases and a pair of runs scored. The Temple City, Calif. native also had two doubles, establishing a new freshman record with 16 doubles on the season.

Syracuse holds an 11-7 advantage in the all-time series with Pittsburgh, which dates back to 2001.
Head coach Leigh Ross is an undefeated 6-0 against the Panthers during her time with the Orange.
The teams most recently met on March 27, 2009 at the SU Softball Stadium where the Orange swept the Panthers, 8-3 and 4-0, in a doubleheader.
