Syracuse Has Three Boats Reach Petite Finals

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Syracuse women's rowing team had three boats reach the petite finals at the 2010 Eastern Sprints on the Cooper River in New Jersey on Sunday, May 16. The varsity eight, third varsity eight and second varsity four each qualified for the petite final, while SU's second varsity eight and varsity four each qualified for the third-level final.
After finishing fourth in heat No. 3 (6:58.557), SU's varsity eight placed fourth in the petite final with a time of 6:55.432. The Orange crossed the finish line ahead of Boston and Rutgers, while Radcliff won the race in 6:43.353.
Syracuse's second varsity eight recorded a fifth-place time of 7:15.281 in heat No. 3 Sunday morning. The Orange qualified for the third-level final where it finished second at a clip of 7:10.025. Navy won the race in 7:04.711.
SU's third varsity eight boat was one of the three Orange boats to qualify for the petite final. After placing fourth in heat No. 2 in 7:54.479, the 3V8 finished sixth in the petite final (7:37.266).
The varsity four rowed to a fifth-place finish in heat No. 1 registering a time of 8:12.349. The Orange won the third-level final (8:07.468).
The Orange second varsity four finished fifth in heat No. 1 behind Brown, Boston, Navy and Bucknell. Syracuse went on to place fifth in the petite final (8:25.331).
