Orange Concludes Non-Conference Schedule

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Syracuse (28-21) wraps up its non-conference schedule with a visit to cross-state foe Canisius (30-15) for a doubleheader on Tuesday, May 4 beginning at 3 p.m. The Orange is 18-13 against non-league foes this season and 6-0 against New York State foes, sweeping doubleheaders with Buffalo, St. John's and Cornell.

Last At Bat
Syracuse split a Saturday doubleheader at Pittsburgh before the Sunday rubber match was cancelled due to rain. The Orange improved to 10-8 on the season with the win, clinching a spot in its seventh-consecutive BIG EAST Championship as the fourth team in.
Sophomore pitcher Jenna Caira earned her second BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week award for her performances throughout the week. Caira made three straight one-hit appearances as the Orange swept Penn State and split with Pitt. The Toronto, Ontario native notched 33 strikeouts through 18.0 innings and enters Tuesday's doubleheader having held opponents scoreless through her last 19.0 innings of work.
Freshman Veronica Grant took the reigns for the Orange offensively, transitioning to the second spot in the SU batting order for the first time this season last week. Grant batted .500 in the doubleheaders against Penn State and Pitt while setting an SU freshman record for doubles.
On Deck
The Orange wraps up its 2010 regular-season with a three-game series against DePaul at the SU Softball Stadium beginning on Saturday, May 8 at noon.
